Winter Percussion Wins Open Class in Union City
March 16, 2010

The Beyer Winter Percussion Ensemble competed on Saturday, March 13 at the WGI Union City Percussion Regional. In their biggest competition of the season against 5 other ensembles, Beyer's 24 member ensemble placed first in both the prelims and finals round. Their score of 89.35 out of 100 in finals was over 5 points higher than the 2nd place group. All three judges in finals had Beyer in first place.

In his review of the show, WGI writer Steven Sperber called Beyer's show Finding Center "the complete package. A strong program both from a design and educational standpoint."

Although Beyer will not be traveling to Dayton for the WGI World Championships this season, they can be proud knowing that their current score ranks them in the top three in the country, and that their solid performance will be viewed by many on the WGI Fan Network.

Local supporters can see Beyer perform next at the CVGPC Central Valley show on March 20 at 5:31 PM. They will also be part of the after-dinner entertainment at the Night of Music, Dance & Pasta on Friday, March 26.
