Look for details about cost for 2010-2011 in the handbook. Contact us if you have questions! Read below for a general overview of what to expect.

Overview

The Beyer Band Boosters (BBB) raise money throughout the year to assist in providing funding for the programs. It is for this reason the actual out-of-pocket expenses for band activities are quite inexpensive. Our annual budget is over $70,000.

We offer payment options - pay up front and get a $50 discount on the whole fall season, choose our payment plan (in the handbook), or arrange an alternate payment plan with the Director.

Here are the costs you can expect for your son/daughter during the school year:

Fair Share Commitment

We ask for a Fair Share Commitment of $200.00 during fall season to defray staff costs, as well as help pay for other costs during the school year.

Transportation Fee

Starting in 2010-2011, we have added a Transportation Fee, because we no longer receive adequate funding for buses from the school district, and our annual fuel/vehicle costs have skyrocketed. In fact, the amount we receive from Modesto City Schools is barely enough to cover buses for one competition day! The Transportation Fee will be $150.00 per student and pays for busing and vehicle fuel, maintenance & insurance for all events throughout the school year (except for Trips, where we include those added transportation costs into the total cost of the trip).

Other Costs

Students are asked to purchase minor uniform accessories, such as gloves for brass players, shoes and socks.

Color Guard

Guard members have some added costs, including gloves, dance shoes, warmups, hair & makeup accessories, unitards and uniforms. This information will be available at Walkthrough Registration as well as online soon! Contact Eddy Castro if you have questions about color guard.

Percussion Equipment Fee

Percussion members have a $25.00 equipment fee for each season (fall and winter). Click the link for details and what this covers. Students paying the Equipment Fee will NOT be asked to purchase anything to participate in percussion. The only exceptions are that we ask drummers to have a practice pad, and all members to have a metronome at home for practicing.

Travel Fees

The band and guard often has opportunities to travel during the year. For fall 2010, we are planning two overnight trips: Southern California and Championships in Fresno, both in November. See travel page for more information. The fall 2010 Travel Fee (includes everything including food and transportation for both trips) is $275.00.
